Cydia is the best alternative to App Store at this moment. You can download and use anything you may think of for free, Games, Apps, Themes, Ringtones etc.
1. Tapp Cydia icon on your Iphone desktop.
2. After Cydia starts up it will update the content list from the repositories it has allready added. If any updates were made to the packages you downloaded, it will show in the Changes section.
Cydia has a menu at the bottom almost like App Store.
- Home
- Sections
- Changes
- Manage
- Search
Home Tab :
The Home tab is the main page of Cydia. Just as a note Cydia interface is mainly a website. This page is where the author “Saurik” communicates with the users, promotes the best packages and repositories”sources” , posts tutorials and usefull information. I recommend reading them if you are a new to jailbreaking.

Sections :
This is where all the packages are organized on specific cathegories such as themes, games, productivity etc, just like App Store. Since I don’t want my themes to be lost in a sea of poorly made content, my repo has it’s own section called Theamatorium.

To browse the content available you have to tap a section that interest you. For example if you tap Theamatorium, you will get a list of the theams in my repo. If you tap Themes (Battery) you will get a list of custom battery styles from different repositories that chose to put their content in that section.

Once you tap the package you want the info page it will dysplay. It shows the version of the package, who made it,
what it contains, the section it belongs to and other information about the repo. Also if you tap the More Information link youwill be taken to a page where you can see more details about the package such as screen shots so you can decide if you want to download it or not.

Changes :
When an author makes changes to their app or theme, it will show which one in this section.

Manage:
This page lets you unistall packages that you downloaded by tapping Packages. Sources option lets you add more repositories like mine that are not listed yet in cydia, also lets you delete the ones that you don’t like. Cool beans.

Search: It searches the packages from the sources you have installed allready.

First you start Cydia and on the main page scroll down to Feature Packages, then to Winterboard and install it.
